After researching the BBFC categories, and watching many films of different age ratings, we decided that our film would have an age rating of '15'. Being a '15', means that people under the age of 15 cannot watch the film at a cinema, or buy/rent the film. It cannot prevent the underage from watching it entirely, but advises adults that it is not suitable for them.
Films classifed '15' can expect to include the following:
• strong violence
• frequent explicit language
• discriminatory language or behaviour
• portrayals of sexual activity
• strong verbal references to sex
• sexual nudity
• brief scenes of sexual violence or verbal references to sexual violence• drug usage (although not drug promoting scenes)
Blood, and gore is not likely to feature in a '15'film, as this is more likely to be in an '18'.
The reasons we chose to classify the film a '15' is because it will have some swearing and violence in as although we dont see the person being murdered fully, there are references and some violent shots. Although we aren't featuring sexual nudity, or activity we still think that with the storyline being based on murder and the frequent strong language age rating '15' would be most appropriate.
